"I read the news today oh boy" - A Day in the Life of EMPact America

(Click this link to hear an audio clip that goes along with this post. I apologize in advance if those 15 seconds get stuck in your head all day.)

Every day at EMPact America, we see news articles related to electromagnetic pulse, and we catch videos posted online, and we get email messages from members, and it can be inundating to process it all. There is so much information available, that if we read every article and viewed every video, that would pretty much take the whole day. And yet, we want to be able to communicate to our members as much as we possibly can about what we're seeing in the media, so we can't ignore the news either.

I use Google's news web page all the time, because it pulls in news articles from all over the world, from all varieties of news web sites, and includes news from so-called minor news agencies as well as from the mainstream media. This way, I get what I feel is a more broad look at what's going on. You can also search for news articles that include certain terms, such as "electromagnetic pulse", which gives these search results.

Google includes in their news web page a service called "RSS" (which stands for "really simple syndication"), so I've used their service to create specific news feeds to help me find news that includes certain search terms related to electromagnetic pulse.

Yesterday, I set up our web forum to include posts of those news feeds, so that members of EMPact America, and other visitors to our site, can find the news articles that we here at EMPact America are reading every day. And because they are forum posts, it gives our members the opportunity to write a comment and/or engage in a discussion with each other.

This forum: "Electromagnetic Pulse in the News" is a new forum I set up just for news articles that include the term "electromagnetic pulse" in them. I also added news feed posts to some of our existing forums, such as the forum about Solar EMP and the forum for Man-Made EMP.

When you're looking through these form posts about news articles, you'll see that only the first sentence or two appears in our forum, and to read the rest of the article, you'll have to click on that article's title, which links back to the original web site where the article was published.

When you visit the original web site where an article is published, you may find that it accepts comments from readers. If that's the case, we encourage you to write your own comment, and when appropriate include a link back to this web site. That's one way we can reach more people with the important message that we need to protect our national electric grid and other critical infrastructures.
