Webmaster's Blog

As Webmaster for EMPact America, I keep an eye on the forums as well as the overall state of the web site. I blog about a variety of topics, but if you come across an article online that you'd like me to highlight here on the web site, feel forward to send it to me: [email protected]

  1. Nature's beauty:danger ratio

I saw a few articles in the news about an upcoming Aurora Borealis show for the northern latitudes, which we know is upcoming because scientists watched a solar flare erupt a few days ago, and they know how long it takes to reach Earth, and it struck me that sometimes (but not always) the ratio of nature's beauty to nature's danger is pretty even. Sometimes, I think we get distracted by the intense scientific language that comes along with the physics of electromagnetic pulse.

  4. October is National Cyber Security Awareness Month

There are many things businesses, schools, and home users can do to practice cybersecurity during National Cybersecurity Awareness Month and beyond.

  5. It's National Preparedness Month

It's National Preparedness Month (read the proclamation here), and I'd like to highlight ways you can be prepared for emergencies of all types.

Here's a link to ready.gov to help you get started on your own plan for emergency preparedness.

What is Ready.gov? Here's part of their description from their web site:
Launched in February 2003, Ready is a national public service
