The Long Arm of Iran Iranian military power has been a historical reality for centuries. Over the last thirty years, under the control of the Islamic Revolution, Iran has become one of the world's primary sources for the products and leadership of exported terror, including a variety of weapons favored by terrorist organizations. Iran has always considered itself a regional leader, and has chosen the ballistic missile as one of its primary weapons to enforce its will on its neighbors. Iran has been exceptionally public about its ballistic missile program, and has demonstrated serious achievements in producing, deploying and testing missiles that represent a serious threat to both the Middle East and Europe. When combined with their interest in developing nuclear technology, this positions Iran as one of the most serious, destabilizing threats in this part of the world. | Ambassador Robert Joseph (Special Assistant to the President on the National Security Council Staff) spoke on this subject at a recent MDAA conference, saying, "there is no greater threat to the United States then Iran's race to Nuclear Weapons as they are more complex, more dangerous, more regional and more global than any other nation."
